This paper may be considered as a successful attempt at giving an adequate mathematical description of the correlation of elastic and plastic anisotropies in sheet metals. According to the author's account, ``the purpose of the present note is, however, phenomenological constitutive modelling''. In short, the paper contains a mathematical generation of the Hill's quadratic function governing the orthotropic plasticity of homogeneous sheet metals, the description of the elastic and plastic parameters of sheet metals by considering an idealized sheet whose behaviour in plastic deformation is governed by a yield function of the Hill's form, the definition of the concept of linear correlation of elastic and plastic anisotropies, and a complete characterization of the subclass of Hill's quadratic yield functions manifesting such correlations of elastic and plastic anisotropies in sheet metals.
