The authors first characterize \(\rho\)-monotone mappings on the Hilbert ball by using their resolvents: Let \({\mathbb B}\) be the open unit ball in a complex Hilbert space \(H\), and let \(f:{\mathbb B} \to H\) be a continuous mapping which is bounded on each subset strictly inside \({\mathbb B}\). Then \(f\) is \(\rho\)-monotone if and only if for each \(r>0\), its resolvent \(J_r :=(I+rf)^{-1}\) is a single-valued, \(\rho\)-nonexpansive self-mapping of \({\mathbb B}\). Then they study the behavior of compositions and convex combinations of these resolvents.
