In \textit{C. Baikoussis, B.-Y. Chen} and \textit{L. Verstraelen} [Tokyo J. Math. 16, No. 2, 341-349 (1993; see the preceding review)] it is proved that the only ruled surfaces \(M^ 2\) in Euclidean space \(E^{2+p}\) (\(p \geq 1\)) with finite type Gauss map are cylinders over curves of finite type and planes. This result is extended to the case of \(M^ n\) in \(E^{n+p}\). Such an \(M^ n\) is called ruled submanifold, if \(M^ n\) is foliated by \((n-1)\)-dimensional planes of \(E^{n+p}\). It is proved that the only ruled submanifolds \(M^ n\) in \(E^{n+p}\) with finite type Gauss map are the cylinders over curves of finite type and the \(n\)- dimensional planes \(E^ n\) of \(E^{n + p}\). Due to the result by \textit{F. Dillen} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 114, No. 3, 795-798 (1992; Zbl 0747.53006)] such cylinders and generalized helicoids are the only ruled submanifolds of finite type.
