Let \(K\) be an infinite field of characteristic \(\neq 2,3\), a commutative nonassociative algebra \(A\) of finite dimension over \(K\) is said to be baric if there is a nontrivial homomorphism \(\omega:A\to K\). The paper under review focuses the attention on baric algebras satisfying the equation \[ x^ 2x^ 2-(1+2\delta)\omega(x)^ 2x^ 2+2\delta\omega(x)^ 3x=0 \] for some \(\delta\in K\). This equation is a consequence of the train equation of rank 3. It is shown that for \(\delta\neq 0\), \(-1/2\) we do not get new algebras apart from the train algebras of rank 3. For \(\delta=0\) we get the well-known Bernstein algebras, and for \(\delta=-1/2\) it is shown that these algebras are special train algebras but not always of rank 3.
