Let \(A:L^ 2 (\Omega) \to L^ 2 (\Omega)\) be a selfadjoint linear operator having 0 as an isolated eigenvalue of finite multiplicity, and \(F : L^ 2 (\Omega) \to L^ 2 (\Omega)\) the nonlinear Nemytskij operator generated by a Carathéodory function \(f : \Omega \times \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R}\). In this nice and interesting paper, the author gives a general approach to the problem \(Au = F(u)\) in the case of ``strong resonance'', i.e. \[ \lim_{| t | \to \infty} f(x,t) = 0, \quad \sup_{t \in \mathbb{R}} \int^ t_ 0 f(x,s)ds < \infty. \] This approach uses saddle-point techniques and is related to previous work by V. Benci, D. Fortunato, B. E. Silva, J. R. Ward, and others.
