On the group \(Fi_{24}\) (Q1097963): Difference between revisions

This paper is a discussion of properties of the sporadic Fischer simple group \(Fi'_{24}\). It starts with an outline on the techniques the author uses to construct the triple cover \(G=3\cdot Fi'_{24}\). Beginning with the action on the 3-transposition graph of \(Fi_{24}^ a \)triple cover of this graph is constructed admitting G transitively. This gives rise to a 783-dimensional representation of G, which is discussed in some detail. The author also exhibits an explicit representation of \(Fi_{24}\) on the transpositions in order to specify elements generating various subgroups of \(Fi_{24}\). Finally results on Coxeter groups of type \(Y_{knm}\) are discussed. The paper includes a list of references, where some of the above results are proved in detail and related results are found.
