The author establishes a partial converse to Ore's Theorem on the embeddability of a semigroup into a group. It is proved that every open subsemigroup of a solvable Lie group G is mid-reversible in G. Among other interesting results it is also established that if S is an open invariant subsemigroup of a connected locally compact group G such that the closure of S contains the identity of G, then S is connected.
