The author studies an autonomous three-dimensional system of differential equations which generalizes the classical Lorenz system (it has the same form while some of the coefficients may have signs different from the corresponding coefficients in the classical case). The author introduces new classes of Lyapunov type functions to obtain explicit conditions on the coefficients under which any solution bounded on \([0,+\infty)\) tends to an equilibrium. An exact formula for the Lyapunov dimension of the bounded invariant set containing the origin is found.
