From the abstract: After \textit{R. Freese} [Discrete Math. 7, 107--109 (1974; Zbl 0271.05011)], the authors define the Dilworth lattice of an Artinian local ring to be the family of ideals with the largest number of generators. They prove that it is indeed a lattice. Moreover they prove that over certain Gorenstein algebras the maximum and the minimum of the family are power of the maximal ideal. Now let \((A,m,k)\) be a noetherian local ring and let \(I\) be an ideal of \(A\). Denote by \(\mu(I)\) the number of elements in a minimal basis for the ideal \(I\) of \(A\) and let the Dilworth number of \(A\) be \(d(A) =\max\{ \mu(I) | I \triangleleft A\}\). Let \(F(A)= \{I\triangleleft A|\mu(I) = d(A)\}\). In fact the authors prove, among other things, the following Theorem. Let \(A = k[X_1,\dots, X_n]/(X_1^{d_1}, \dots, X_n^{d_n})\) be the monomial complete intersection. Then the maximum and the minimum of the family \(\mathcal{F}(A)\) are powers of the maximal ideal.
