The present paper is devoted to the following discrete equation of the Painlevé-\(V\) type (\(q\)-\(P_v\), for short): \[ (x\overline x-1)(x\underline x-1)={\text{pr }\lambda^{2n}(x-u)(x-1/u)(x-v)(x-1/v)\over (x-p\lambda^n)(x-r\lambda^n)},\tag{1} \] where \(x=x(n)\), \(\overline x=x(n+1)\), \(\underline x=x(n-1)\), and \(\lambda\), \(p\), \(r\), \(u\) and \(v\) are parameters. The authors derive the form of the Miura transformation of the \(q\)-\(P_v\) Eq. (1) and show that it is an auto-Bäcklund transformation. Using this Bäcklund transformation, the Schlesinger transformations of Eq. (1) are then obtained. Using a factorization of the form \[ x\overline x-1={p(x-u)(x-v)\over uv(x\lambda^{-n}-p)},\quad x\underline x-1={uvr(x-1/u)(x-1/v)\over (x\lambda^{-n}-r)}, \] some particular solutions of Eq. (1) are given in two types: solutions involving discrete confluent hypergeometric (Whittaker) functions and rational solutions. Some open questions concerning \(q\)-\(P_v\) equations are also given in the paper.
