This paper contains a number of remarkable progresses in the research of the relations between normal families of functions holomorphic and nonvanishing in the unit disk and arithmetic-progression-gaps in the Taylor series as well as semiduality of such functions. Such relations were investigated by St. Ruscheweyh and his coauthors in a number of papers. The reader should compare [\textit{St. Ruscheweyh}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 210, 63-74 (1975; Zbl 0311.30011)], [\textit{V. Kasten}, \textit{St. Ruscheweyh}, Math. Nachr. 123, 277-283 (1985; Zbl 0589.30010), \textit{H. Pinto}, \textit{St. Ruscheweyh} and \textit{L. Salinas}, Ann. Univ. Mariae Curie-Skłodowska, Sect. A 40, 193-207 (1986; Zbl 0654.30016), \textit{St. Ruscheweyh}, and \textit{L. Salinas}, Sci., Ser. A 1, 97-100 (1988; Zbl 0685.30026) and \textit{K.-J. Wirths} in Pitman Res. Notes Math. Ser. 262, 106-112 (1992; Zbl 0797.30007)] for definitions, results and conjectures in this area. The main tool of the proofs in the present paper is an old theorem of H. Cartan on \(C\)-classes with respect to sequences of \(p\)-tuples of functions holomorphic and nonvanishing in the unit disk. By clever use of this theorem the author is able to solve a number of problems from the above cited papers.
