Let \(p>1\) be prime and let \(Y\subset X= (\mathbb{Z}/ p\mathbb{Z} )^{\mathbb{Z}^2}\) be an infinite, closed, shift-invariant subgroup with the following properties: (i) the restriction to \(Y\) of the shift-action \(\sigma\) of \(\mathbb{Z}^2\) on \(X\) is mixing with respect to the Haar measure \(\lambda_Y\) of \(Y\), (ii) every closed, shift-invariant subgroup \(Z\subsetneqq Y\) is finite. The author proves that every sufficiently mixing, non-atomic, shift-invariant probability measure \(\mu\) on \(Y\) is identical to \(\lambda_Y\).
