Let $\mathbb D$ be the complex unit disc. By using the well-known ``Jack Lemma'', the authors give new conditions for the critical point of the conformal radius (hyperbolic derivative) to be unique. Some techniques used in the article use univalence criteria due to Sing, Shapiro, Szapiel and others. One of the principal results of the paper (the first one) is the following. Theorem. If $n\geq 2$ and $f(\zeta)=\zeta+\sum_{k=n+1}^\infty a_k\zeta^k$, $\zeta\in \mathbb D$, satisfies the condition \[ |f'(\zeta)-|^{1-\gamma}|\zeta f''(\zeta)|^\gamma< n^\gamma,\,\;\zeta\in\mathbb D, \] for some $\gamma\geq 0$, then $f\in H_0$ and $\zeta=0$ is the only critical point of \[ h_f(\zeta)=(1-|\zeta|^2)|f'(\zeta)|. \] Here, $H_0$ is the class of functions $f$ that are of the above-mentioned form and are locally univalent in $\mathbb D$.
