Recently \textit{S. Aki} and \textit{K. Hirano} [Ann. Inst. Stat. Math. 47, No. 2, 225-235 (1995; Zbl 0831.60017)] derived the joint distributions of waiting time and the numbers of succes-runs of length less than \(k\) and failures until the first consecutive \(k\)-successes. The author gives an alternative derivation of these results and computes the means, variances and covariances. Moreover he studies some similar problems and extends the results on the case of binary sequences.
