Um die der Legendre'schen linearen Differentialgleichung \(2^{\text{ter}}\) Ordnung für das vollständige elliptische Integral \(K\) analoge lineare Differentialgleichung \(4^{\text{ter}}\) Ordnung für die Perioden der hyperelliptischen Integrale \(1^{\text{ter}}\) Ordnung herzuleiten, combinirt der Verfasser die 3 Differentialgleichungen: \[ E = \frac{1}{k} \cdot \frac{dK'}{dk} - k \frac{dE}{dk},\quad K' = \frac{1}{k} \cdot \frac{dK}{dk} - k \frac{dK'}{dk},\quad E' = \frac{1}{k} \cdot \frac{dE}{dk} - k \frac{dE'}{dk}, \] für die vollständigen hyperelliptischen Integrale \(1^{\text{ter}}\) und \(2^{\text{ter}}\) Gattung \[ K = \int^{1}_{0} \frac{dx}{\sqrt{Rx}},\quad K' = \int^{1}_{0} \frac{xdx}{\sqrt{Rx}},\quad E = \int^{1}_{0} \frac{x^2 dx}{\sqrt{Rx}},\quad E' = \int^{1}_{0} \frac{x^3 dx}{\sqrt{Rx}}, \] mit einer \(4^{\text{ten}}\) Differentialgleichung von der Form: \[ k \frac{dK}{dk} + K = PE' + QE + RK' + SK, \] welche durch die Zerlegung des \(R\) in eine Summe von Potenzen von \(\left(x - \frac{1}{k^2}\right)\), aus \[ d \frac{\sqrt{Rx}}{x -\frac{1}{k^2}} = \left[ \frac{1}{2} \cdot \frac{R' (x)}{x - \frac{1}{k^2}} - \frac{R(x)}{\left( x - \frac{1}{k} \right)^2} \right] \frac{dx}{\sqrt{Rx}} \] gewonnen wird. Die benutzte Methode lässt sich auch anwenden zur Herstellung der Differentialgleichung für die Perioden der hyperelliptischen Funktionen beliebiger Ordnung.
