In a previous paper [\textit{C. Gerhardt}, J. Differ. Geom. 43, 612-641 (1996; Zbl 0861.53058)], the author proved the existence of closed strictly convex Weingarten hypersurfaces in a Riemannian manifold of nonpositive sectional curvature, subject to the existence of suitable barrier hypersurfaces. Here he extends this work in two ways. First, the condition on the sectional curvature of the ambient manifold is removed, and second, a larger class of curvature functions is permitted.
