An important property of the most infinite server systems, the non- interacting property of all customers once they have entered the system, is the background for the investigation of a general infinite server system with batch arrivals. Using a Markov renewal input process the batch sizes and the service times depend on the customer types which are regulated by the Markov renewal process. Analytic results are obtained, mostly in a recursive manner, for generating functions and binomial moments of both the continuous time system size and pre-arrival system size. A numerical example closes the paper, where some open questions with respect to the complexity and the sensitivity of the Markov renewal approach are stated.
