We assume that all spaces are Hausdorff. By a mapping we mean a continuous surjective mapping. Recall that a space \(X\) is \(H\)-closed if it is closed in every space it is embedded in. A mapping \(f:X\rightarrow Y\) is said to be a \(C_{\tau}\)-mapping if the complete preimage of every point is a compact subset and whose cardinality is less than \(\tau\). In this paper, after giving a clear and informative introduction, the author defines \(X\) to be \(C_{\tau}\)-functionally compact (a \(C_{\tau}FC\)-space) if every \(C_{\tau}\)-mapping \(f:X\rightarrow Y\) is closed. The class of compactly functionally compact (\(CFC\))-spaces is a particular case of the class of \(C_{\tau}FC\)-spaces (i.e., whenever \(| X|<\tau\)), [\textit{L. M. Friedler} and \textit{J. R. Porter}, Houston J. Math. 22, No.4, 775--785 (1996; Zbl 0894.54007)]. He also defines \(X\) to be \(C_{\tau}\)-semiregular if for any compact subset \(K\) of \(X\) where \(|K|<\tau\) and every neighborhood \(O(K)\), there is a regular open neighborhood \(V(K)\) of \(K\) such that \(K\subset V(K)\subset O(K)\). In Theorem \(1\), he proves that \(X\) is a \(C_{\tau}FC\)-space iff \(X\) is \(H\)-closed and \(C_{\tau}\)-semiregular. Finally, a question raised by Dickman and Porter, namely is the product of \(CFC\)-spaces a \(CFC\)-space is answered. It is proved that \(X=\prod_{\alpha\in A}X_{\alpha}\) is a \(C_{\tau}FC\)-space iff each \(X_{\alpha}\) is a \(C_{\tau}FC\)-space.
