The author considers the 8-vertex model and is interested in computeing the law of orientations of two distant edges, which is the edge correlation function. Under the condition of integralibity, a closed form of the edge correlation function is given and its asymptotics are studied. Moreover, the influence of the boundary conditions on the edge correlation function is studied. The results of the paper are obtained by introducing a system of particles in interaction related to the 8-vertex model. The correlation function is computed using several arguments from analytic combinatorics, random walks and conics. The probabilistic cellular automata of order 2 are used to study the influence of boundary conditions.
