Theory and practice of the frequency filtering domain decomposition (FFDD) method for the solution of a Poisson-like partial differential equation on a rectangular grid. Parallelization of the FF is obtained by the combination with DD and by a further recursive calculation of the coupling Schur complement. Optimal speedup is predicted and confirmed by numerical experiments on a transputer system (Parsytec SC 128).
