    The author considers the diophantine equations \[ x^2 - kxy^2 \pm y^4 = \pm c, \quad c \in \{1,2,4\} \] and solves them completely for large classes of the integer parameter \(k\). His arguments are short and elementary, but heavily based on his well-known earlier work.
