Let \((X_{nk}\), \(1\leq k\leq n\), \(n\geq 1)\) be an array of row-wise independent random elements in a separable Banach space E with E \(X_{nk}=0\) for all k,n. Suppose that \((X_{nk})\) are uniformly bounded by a random variable X such that E \(| X|^{2p}<\infty\), \(1\leq p<2\). Then the complete convergence of \(n^{- 1/p}\sum^{n}_{k=1}X_{nk}\) to 0 is obtained provided E is of type \(p+\epsilon\) for some \(\epsilon >0.\) Reviewers remarks: Lemma 3 used in the paper fails as shown by \textit{T. Kühn} [Soobshch. Akad. Nauk Gruz. SSR 110, 253-256 (1983; Zbl 0519.46017)]. For the sequence of independent Banach space valued random variables the above result is proved by \textit{R. Norvajsha} [see Litov. Mat. Sb. 23, No.3, 100-109 (1983; Zbl 0542.60010)].
