The authors establish connections between Dyson's crank and unimodal compositions. Also they prove an identity, \(u_{0}(n)=u_{1}(n)-u_{2}(n)\), for \(n\ge0\) by analytic and combinatorial methods; they provide a result connecting the partition functions, \(u_{m}(n)\), \(C_{m}(n)\), and \(M_{k}(n)\), \(m\in\{0,1,2\}\) in Theorem \(1.2\) and its analogous result in Theorem \(1.4\). Further, they give a combinatorial proof of a new truncated Euler pentagonal number theorem due to \textit{E. X. W. Xia} and \textit{X. Zhao} [Rev. R. Acad. Cienc. Exactas Fís. Nat., Ser. A Mat., RACSAM 116, No. 1, Paper No. 22, 8 p. (2022; Zbl 1480.11128)]. All the results are proved in this article using proper mathematical tools, arguments and explanations.
