A group \(G\) is called semiabelian if it is generated by its normal cyclic subgroups. Finite such groups were studied in a paper of \textit{P. Venzke} [J. Algebra 57, 567-579 (1979; Zbl 0399.20026)], where their role in the theory of finite supersoluble groups was elucidated. In the paper under review the authors obtain further structural results concerned with (possibly infinite) semiabelian groups. Using their theory the authors show that torsion-free semiabelian groups are Abelian and they are able to also precisely describe all 2-generator semiabelian groups.
