Two basic nonconforming methods: the mortar element method and the finite element tearing and interconnecting (FETI) method, are analyzed. The parallel between the two methods is given and, for both methods, results of numerical analysis and of numerical simulations are given that show the optimality and the accuracy of the mortar element method.
