Zur Betrachtung von elastisch-plastischen Strukturen der Kontinuumsmechanik wird das von Melan entwickelte Schrankenverfahren umformuliert und reduziert auf ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von ``unteren und oberen Schranken''. Die Alternative hat das Ziel des effektiveren Einsatzes numerischer Algorithmen. Numerische Betrachtungen werden u.a. am Beispiel der zyklischen Belastung von Biegebalken angestellt.
