New results are reported in the theory of quantum integrable models in \(1+1\) dimensions and in the quantum and classical statistical mechanics of such integrable models at finite temperatures. The methods of functional integration for evaluating the partition function which are based on the canonical transformation to classical action-angle variables are reviewed. To determine the measure in the transformed path integral the commutation relations of the elements of the quantum monodromy matrices are used. The quantum group quantization is sketched and a new ``\(q\)-boson'' lattice gas is solved. The Fermi-Bose equivalence of the quantum models is generalised to include fermion-anion-boson-anion equivalent quantum systems. The anyon theories are shown to arise naturally once the action-angle method is applied. Finally, some suggestions concerning further development are made.
