Let \(\Omega_{U}^{*}\) be the unitary cobordism ring. Hirzebruch's problem asks whether each \([X]\in \Omega_{U}^{*}\) is represented by a connected algebraic variety [\textit{F. Hirzebruch}, in: Proc. Int. Congr. Math. 1958, 119--136 (1960; Zbl 0132.19704)]. Motivated by this problem, \textit{N. Ray} [Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 29, 413--422 (1986; Zbl 0603.57021)] proved the following theorem: Each element of degree greater than \(2\) in \(\Omega_{U}^{*}\) contains a representative which is simultaneously a TTS manifold and a TNS manifold. Here, a TTS (totally tangentially split) manifold is a smooth stably complex manifold whose stable tangent bundle is isomorphic to a sum of complex line bundles. In contrast, a TNS manifold means a totally normally split manifold. Moreover, Buchstaber-Panov-Ray [\textit{V. M. Buchstaber} et al., Mosc. Math. J. 7, No. 2, 219--242 (2007; Zbl 1176.55004)] proved the following theorem: Each element of degree at least \(4\) in \(\Omega_{U}^{*}\) contains a smooth quasitoric TTS manifold. Here, a quasitoric manifold is a topological analogue of a toric variety which may not be a complex manifold. In the paper under review, the author proves that each element of \(\Omega_{U}^{*}\) of degree greater than \(2\) contains a representative which is a smooth quasitoric TTS and TNS manifold.
