This paper is a review of two publications in Sci. Rep. Tôhoku Univ., Ser I. (1950/51; see Zbl 0959.83006 and Zbl 0959.83011 above). The possible forms of spherically symmetric metrics and their transformations (identity problem) are analyzed and Nariai's solution of Einstein's field equations is discussed geometrically. No physical interpretation is given.
