The author presents an approach how to generalize orthocompleteness and \(\sigma\)-orthocompleteness of orthoposets in the theory of orthoalgebras and states connections with other approaches. A short overview of basic notions in the theory of orthoalgebras is given and the existence of suprema of chains is studied.
