Under some technical hypotheses the authors classify finite-dimensional modular Lie superalgebras over algebraically closed fields with indecomposable Cartan matrices. They present eleven new exceptional simple modular Lie superalgebras (nine in characteristic 2, one in characteristic 3, and one in characteristic 5). Moreover, several key notions are discussed or introduced (e.g., Cartan matrix, some versions of restrictedness in characteristic 2, Dynkin diagram, Chevalley generators, and the notion of Lie superalgebra in characteristic 2). They also list the Lie superalgebras of fixed points of automorphisms corrensponding to the symmetries of Dynkin diagrams and describe their simple subquotients.
