We use the exterior calculus and some decomposition techniques within this formalism in order to make the in general very complicated structure of \(U_ 4\)-field equations of gravity more transparent. As a result, some of the equations take on a rather simple form, which can even be given in several equivalent versions according to various requirements. Furthermore, we study models in diverse dimensions and give classes of solutions under certain assumptions.
