The consistent-histories approach to standard quantum theory was developed by \textit{R. B. Griffiths} [J. Stat. Phys. 36, 219-272 (1984; Zbl 0586.60097)], \textit{R. Omnès} [ibid. 53, 893-932, 933-955, 957-975 (1988; Zbl 0677.03042), ibid. 57, 357-382 (1989), Ann. Phys. 201, 354-447 (1990), Rev. Mod. Phys. 64, 339-382 (1992)] and others. The author argues that such a many-world-views semantics can be described mathematically within a topos-theoretic framework based upon the idea of sets varying over the partially ordered set of all nontrivial Boolean subalgebras of the orthoalgebra of history propositions. The exposition is so elementary and readable as to be accessible to any interested reader.
