The paper concerns complete Riemannian manifolds equipped with real functions of non-vanishing gradient with norm separated from zero by a positive constant. All the results and examples presented in this voluminous paper belong to the ``folklore'' of Riemannian geometry. Since the presentation is good and pretty detailed, the paper could be useful for students learning standards of contemporary Riemannian geometry.
