The authors offer an analysis of the stability of fuzzy systems based on a max-product composition. They begin with a review of max-min composition by showing some shortcomings of such an approach in the light of the desired stability of the systems. Then, the authors consider stability of relational matrices combined with the max-product composition. The analysis results in the characterization of convergence properties of relational matrices as well as in the determination of eigen fuzzy sets for stable matrices. A few algorithmical solutions for some cases are obtained too. At the end of the paper, stabilization of some relational matrices for control applications are given.
