In this paper a discrete semidynamical system with finite ``phase space'' is investigated. Let a, b, c be natural numbers and S denotes the complete residue system modulo c. Let us consider the map f: \(S\to S\) defined by the relation \(f(x)=(ax+b) mod c.\) The periodic and aperiodic behavior of the orbits \(\{f^ n(x)\}^{\infty}_{n=0}\) is studied in dependence on the parameters a, b, c.
