Maximal spaces of skew-symmetric and symmetric anticommutative matrices (Q1190738): Difference between revisions

Let \(\Phi\) be a field of characteristic different from 2 such that \(\Phi=\{x^ 2| x\in\Phi\}\) and let \(M_ n(\Phi)\) be the \(n\times n\) matrix algebra over \(\Phi\). The author constructs infinite series of maximal vector subspaces of skew-symmetric, respectively symmetric matrices from \(M_ n(\Phi)\) such that every matrix from these spaces is nilpotent of class 2. These results are the further development of the author's earlier work [Sib. Mat. Zh. 30, No. 6(178), 58--64 (1989; Zbl 0712.17003)] and are based on a more general construction for algebras with involution.
