A discrete fixed point theorem of Eilenberg as a particular case of the contraction principle (Q2388409): Difference between revisions

The author proves that Eilenberg's fixed point theorem (see, e.g., \textit{J. Dugundji} and \textit{A. Granas} [``Fixed point theory. Vol. I'' (Monografie Matematyczne 61, PWN, Warszawa) (1982; Zbl 0483.47038)]) is equivalent to the restriction of the Banach contraction principle to the class of non-Archimedean bounded metric spaces; a related extension is also given.
