The paper deals with a mapping \(F:Q\rightarrow Y\) where \(Q\) is a metric space and \(Y\) is a Banach space. The space \(Y\) is endowed with strict preorder relations \(\prec\), \(\prec\prec\) and a preorder relation \(\preceq\), which give place to the notions of local \(\prec\)-minimizer, local weak \(\prec\)-minimizer and local strong \(\prec\)-minimizer, respectively, for points of \(Q\) with respect to \(F\). In this framework the paper investigates (first and second order) optimality conditions for the ``vector'' optimization problem \(F:Q\rightarrow Y\). The approach followed is the use of scalarizations functions, based on which the set-theoretical definitions of weak and strong \(\prec\)-minimizers are replaced by equivalent scalar functional inequalities, from which, using variational analysis, local minimum conditions are obtained. The second order conditions are strongly related to the subdifferential of the scalarization function.
