Die Arbeit behandelt optimale Approximation nichtlinearer Operatoren auf Banachräumen. Für eine recht allgemeine Klasse solcher Operatoren lautet das Hauptergebnis, (local interpolants such those developed by the authors [ACM Trans. Math. Software 12, 193-218 (1986; Zbl 0617.65068)], an automatic technique for solving discontinuous initial-value problems is developed and justified. Numerical examples are presented and programs are included.
