An attempt is made to generalize the notion of ``model space'' (which in the case of compact group has the property that when geometrically quantized its Hilbert space contains every irreducible representation of the group exactly once) to the case of \(\hbox{Diff }S^ 1\). It is constructed in some analogy with the compact case. Namely, the space \(\hbox{Diff }S^ 1\) which has a natural complex structure and Kähler metric is enlarged by the complexified circle group of rigid rotations. The resulting space has all the attributes of its compact counterpart except the positivity of Kähler metric. In particular, it has a free action of Diff by holomorphic maps and includes only non-pathological coadjoint orbits of Diff. However, the quantization of this space remains an open problem.
