A numerical method, based on augmented Lagrangian techniques, is used for the numerical solution of hyperelastic compressible bodies subjected to large deformations. Using Uzawa's method, the problem is transformed into an iterative procedure, which can be realized by the finite element method. Several numerical examples in 2 and 3 dimensions are presented.
