Let \(p=(p_j)\) and \(q=(q_k)\) be two complex sequences with \(P_m:=\sum^m_{j=0} p_j\neq 0\) \((m\in \mathbb N)\) and \(Q_n:=\sum^n_{k=0}q_k\neq 0\) \((n\in \mathbb N)\). A double complex sequence \((s_{jk})\) is said to be \((\overline N,p,q)\) summable to \(s\) if the double sequence \(\left(\frac 1 {P_m Q_n}\sum^m_{j=0}\sum^n_{k=0}p_jq_k s_{jk}\right)_{m,n}\) converges to \(s\) in Prings\-heim's sense. The authors study Tauberian conditions under which the \((\overline N,p,q)\) summability implies the convergence of \((s_{jk})\). \textit{F. Móricz} [Stud. Math. 110, 83--96 (1994; Zbl 0833.40003)] showed that the (generalized) two-dimensional analogues of Landau's condition and Schmidt's slow decrease condition are Tauberian for Cesàro summability. \textit{S. Baron} and \textit{U. Stadtmüller} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 211, 574--589 (1997; Zbl 0883.40002)] proved that the two-dimensional analogues of Landau's two-sided conditions are Tauberian for \((\overline N,p,q)\) if \((P_m)\) and \((Q_n)\) are regularly varying sequences. The authors extend these results to \((\overline N,p,q)\) summability with \(p,q\in\text{SVA}\) where \[ \text{SVA}:=\left\{(p_j)\left|\, \underline{\lim}_m \left|\frac{P_{[\lambda m]}}{P_m}-1\right|>0\text{ for all }\lambda\in (0,1)\cup(1,\infty)\right.\right\} \] ([\ ] denotes the integral part). First of all, they show that the \((\overline N,p,q)\) summability implies the convergence of the corresponding deferred means and give (with help of deferred means) exact Tauberian conditions. If \(p\) and \(q\) are nonnegative sequences from SVA, then the conditions \[ \lim_{\lambda \downarrow 1}\;\overline{\lim_{m,n}}\;\max_{m<j\leq[\lambda m]}\;|s_{jn}-s_{mn}|=0, \quad \lim_{\lambda\downarrow 1}\;\overline{\lim_{m,n}}\;\max_{n<k\leq [\lambda n]} \;|s_{mk}-s_{mn}|=0 \tag{"}\((*)\)" \] together imply one of these exact conditions, so the conditions \((*)\) are Tauberian. In particular, the conditions \[ j|s_{jn}-s_{j-1,n}|\leq H\;(j,n>n_1), \;k|s_{mk}-s_{m,k-1}| \leq H\;(m,k>n_1) \tag{"}\((**)\)" \] (\(n_1\) and \(H\) are suitable positive constants) are Tauberian. For real sequences, from the conditions \((*)\) and \((**)\) are derived Tauberian theorems with slow decrease conditions and Landau's conditions, respectively. The mentioned Tauberian results are extended to double sequences in ordered vector spaces.
