The authors show that the method of proof, introduced by Jamison in the study of certain sets in affine spaces over finite fields, can be applied to several basic problems in finite geometries of varied nature. These problems include the celebrated flock theorem and also the characterization of the element of \(GF(q)\) as a set of squares in \(GF(q^ 2)\) with certain properties. The Jamison method, which consists of three steps, is the idea that unifies these diverse topics.
