By using fixed-point theorems, especially the one of Krasnoselskij concerning contractions perturbed by completely continuous operators, sufficient conditions are stated for existence of positive solutions, asymptotically tending to zero, for the equation \((x(t)-cx(t- r))''+p(t)x(g(t))=0\).
