The authors describe the tempered distributions on a matrix space which are invariant under the linear action of an orthogonal group O(p,q). They determine the points of reducibility of the degenerate principal series of the metaplectic group Mp(n,\({\mathbb{R}})\) induced from a character of the maximal parabolic with GL(n,\({\mathbb{R}})\) as Levi factor. They also identify the representation of Mp(n,\({\mathbb{R}})\) which is associated to the trivial representation of O(p,q) under the Archimedean theta correspondence.
