A spectral collocation scheme with Legendre Gauss points for the Helmholtz equation with inhomogeneous Robin boundary conditions is considered. The convergence analysis is given for Dirichlet boundary conditions. For constant coefficients a matrix decomposition algorithm is developed. The algorithm is used in conjunction with preconditioned conjugate gradient methods for the solution of problems with variable coefficients.
