The main objective is to improve the understanding of the dynamics of harmonically excited nonlinear oscillators with asymmetric piecewise linear damping properties. Due to the special form of the nonlinear damping, exact periodic solutions can be found by imposing matching and periodicity conditions. Even such complicated motions where sticking is present are analysed. These results are in excellent agreement with numerical simulation results where also more complicated motions like quasi-periodic and chaotic motions are shown to be present. This is an interesting paper, especially because the developed method allows an extension to multi-degree-of-freedom systems.
