This paper proves a rather complex looking condition to obtain a similarly complex conclusion. However, this reviewer believes that there must be a defect in the theorem. The authors consider a class \(A_n(p)\) of functions of the form \(f(z) = z^p + \sum_{k=n+p}^\infty a_k z^k\) which are analytic and \(p\)-valent in the unit disc. Their main theorem states that if \(f \in A_n(p)\), \(\beta \geq 0\), \(0 \leq \alpha < p\), \(w\) is a non-zero complex number, and \(g(z)\) is a \(p\)-valent starlike function in \(A_n(p)\) and if given conditions are satisfied, then \(| [(zf'(z)/[f(z)] ^{1 - \beta}[g(z)]^\beta) - p]^w| < p-\alpha\). Unfortunately, none of the conditions in the theorem involve \(\alpha\), so the quantity \(p - \alpha\) can be arbitrarily close to zero. Since the proof of the theorem seems to be correct, it appears to the reviewer that the conditions (2.2) and (2.3) of the theorem can never be satisfied unless \([f(z)]^{1 - \beta}[g(z)]^\beta) = f(z) = z^p\).
