The authors show that the solution of the incompressible Stokes equation in a half space is governed by an analytic semigroup on \(BUC_\sigma (H)\), \(C_{0,\sigma}(H)\), or \(L_\sigma^\infty (H)\) by obtaining \(L^\infty\)-estimates of the form \(\|u\|_\infty\leq \frac{C}{|\lambda|}\|f\|_\infty\), where \(\lambda\) belongs to a suitable sector in the complex plane. They demonstrate that the corresponding result for \(L_\sigma^1 (H)\) does not hold true. Finally, it is also shown that the Stokes-operator admits an \(R\)-bounded \(H^\infty\)-calculus on \(L^p\) for \(1<p<\infty\).
